Susan von der Lippe Qualifies for Olympic Trials.

Vonderlippesusan_2 Susan von der Lippe is no stranger to elite level competitive swimming. Swimming as Susan Rapp, she was a member of the 1980, 1984, and 1988 US Olympic teams, and a silver medalist in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Recently, von der Lippe achieved something few thought possible: at age 40, she qualified for the 2008 US Olympic Trials in the 100-meter breaststroke.

40 is the new 20!!

Disabled Athlete Going to Beijing!

Melissa_stockwell_2 Melissa Stockwell was a competitive gymnast then she went to war in Baghdad and came home disabled.  That didn't stop the athlete within....Instead she switched gears and moved into the pool becoming a swimmer.

Now, Stockwell is the first to land on the team heading to Beijing this summer to compete at the Paralympics.

You go girl!!  We'll be cheerin' you on!

The USA Swimming Foundation has launched the Make a Splash initiative in response to a study that found six out of 10 African-American children are unable to swim, nearly twice as many as their Caucasian counterparts.  In addition, 56% of Hispanic and Latino children are unable to swim.
