I idolize Tiger Woods. In my eyes, he is the consummate athlete; big, strong, boundless talent, and most impressive, continuous drive to get better. I understand that drive. When I was working on getting up in the world of squash, there was very little that could take me away from working out, 10 times a week. I lived it. I breathed it. I burnt through workout partners. So I know and appreciate Tiger’s drive.
One of my last sports goals is to have a scratch golf game. I watch Tiger play and say “I want to do that”. And “I know I can do that!” I won’t be able to beat him, ever, but I really believe I can do golf, when I get the time. I keep thinking, I can do that chip, I can get out of the trap like that; I will learn that flop shot. We will have that in common… someday.
Then it happened. We finally do have something in common! I am so excited!
We both had our knees “scoped” last week, and will be back at our respective sports about 6 weeks from now. Okay, it’s not as I had planned, but it’s a start!
